SpectraBox is built so that we never see your data at all. This policy covers SpectraBox on iPhone and on Android, and it is short because there is almost nothing to disclose.
Nothing about you personally. SpectraBox has no accounts, no sign-up, no analytics SDKs, and no advertising SDKs, on either platform. We do not operate any server that receives your data. A session itself needs no internet connection and works fully in airplane mode, on iPhone or Android. On Android, the app does contain Google's Play Billing library and Google's ML Kit pose detector, both described below under "Google Play services on Android": neither is an analytics or advertising SDK, and neither one reports what you say, record, or photograph back to us.
Your sessions, transcripts, recordings, photos and videos are stored on your device. On iPhone, if iCloud is available, your data may also be stored in your personal, private iCloud database, encrypted by Apple. On Android, your data stays on the phone, and if Android backup is turned on it is included in your own Google account backup, encrypted by Google. We have no access to any of it, and no sign-in is required.
SpectraBox reads your phone's magnetometer (the same sensor the compass uses) to show a live EMF-style readout, and its motion sensor to flag movement that could disturb a reading. Both readings are used only on your device and are never uploaded.
Some features ask for permission to use hardware. Every one of them is optional, each is used only while you are actively using that feature, and nothing any of them captures is ever sent off your device.
Every one of these is optional. You can refuse or later revoke any of them at any time: on Android in Settings > Apps > SpectraBox > Permissions, or on iPhone in Settings > SpectraBox. The rest of the app keeps working without them.
Three pieces of Google software are part of the Android app. None of them is an analytics or advertising SDK, none of them is ours, and Google handles this data under Google's own privacy policy, never SpectraBox's.
Words you add yourself in a Custom Word Bank are spoken by your phone's own on-device text-to-speech voice, offline: Android's built-in TextToSpeech engine on Android, or Apple's on-device voice on iPhone. Neither sends the words you typed anywhere.
SpectraBox Pro is a single one-time purchase, the same on both platforms, with no subscription. On iPhone it is processed entirely by Apple through your App Store account, and refunds are requested through Apple. On Android, it is processed entirely by Google Play through your Google Play account, and refunds are handled by Google Play under its own policy (Play Store > Menu > Order history, or support.google.com/googleplay). We receive no payment details on either platform, and because it is a one-time purchase, there is no subscription to cancel. Full terms are in the Terms of Use.
You can export any session as a CSV or text transcript at any time, and erase everything by deleting the app: on iPhone, also remove SpectraBox data from iCloud in iOS Settings; on Android, uninstalling the app deletes its data immediately, unless you later reinstall and restore it from your own Google account backup.
